Art flows through every chapter of Emma's story – from her early studies in History of Art and Fine Art painting, through her time working in vibrant gallery spaces, to sharing the magic of creativity with young minds as a primary school art teacher.
This past decade has seen Emma return to her roots in Wiltshire, where she has immersed herself fully in oil painting. The sweeping vistas of the Pewsey Vale and Salisbury Plain called her back home, offering endless inspiration for both her en plein air work and commissioned pieces.
'There's something magical about the expansive skies and rolling landscapes here – they speak to the soul. When I paint, I'm capturing not just the scene, but that profound sense of peace and connection that nature gifts us. These are the feelings I want to share through my work.'
Her time as Head of Art in a London primary school proved transformative, as the uninhibited creativity of children sparked a profound shift in her artistic approach.
'Children remind us of the pure joy in creating – they paint with their hearts wide open, free from self-doubt. I believe we all have this creative spirit within us; it's simply waiting to be rediscovered.'
Life's rich tapestry of experiences has shaped Emma's distinctive style. Working alongside interior designer Tricia Guild opened her eyes to bold chromatic possibilities. Whilst a year under Australia's brilliant skies led her to explore the dynamic world of mural painting. This adventure continued back in the UK, where she spent three years transforming spaces with her murals. Her time in London's contemporary art galleries added yet another layer to her artistic vocabulary.
Emma's work resonates with the creative energy of artists who inspire her – from the dynamic gestures of Willem de Kooning to the lyrical landscapes of Ivon Hitchens and David Hockney's vivid vision. Contemporary female painters such as Chloe Lamb and Elizabeth Barnett continue to fuel her artistic dialogue.
Emma welcomes commission inquiries, bringing her unique artistic vision to each new project.
